Questions we hear most often

Straight answers about how we work, what engagements look like, and what to expect before, during, and after a project.

Getting Started

What does the first conversation look like?

A 30-minute call with no agenda other than understanding your situation. We ask about your current data environment, what decisions you need to make that you cannot make well right now, and what you have already tried. You do not need to prepare anything. If there is a fit, we will tell you what an engagement might look like. If there is not, we will tell you that too.

Do you work with businesses outside of manufacturing?

Yes. About half our client base is manufacturing - the other half spans accounting firms, healthcare providers, logistics companies, professional services firms, financial services, and more. The data problems we solve - disconnected systems, manual reporting, poor visibility, ERP underutilization - appear across every industry. The specific tools and context differ. The approach does not.

What size business do you typically work with?

Our engagements range from 20-person businesses with one specific automation problem to 500-person organizations with full-scale ERP implementations. The common thread is not size - it is that the business has outgrown its current data setup and needs a partner who can work across the full stack, not just hand off pieces to different vendors.

Do you work with clients outside of the United States?

Yes. We work remotely by default with clients in North America, Europe, and beyond. Time zone differences are manageable for most engagements. For on-site work in international locations, we discuss logistics and travel costs as part of the scoping process.

Engagements and Pricing

How are engagements priced?

Project engagements are priced on scope, not on hours. Before any work begins, we define exactly what gets built, what it connects to, and what success looks like - and we price to that definition. Retainer engagements are priced on a monthly basis with a defined set of hours and a defined scope of ongoing work. We do not bill by the hour for project work.

What is the typical engagement size?

Project engagements typically range from $5,000 for targeted automation projects to $150,000+ for full ERP implementations with data migration and BI buildout. Retainers typically start at $2,000 per month for ongoing support and grow with the relationship. We scope every engagement individually - there is no standard package that fits every situation.

Do you offer any kind of trial or pilot engagement?

We do not offer trial or pilot engagements. Every project we take on is scoped, priced, and committed to fully - by both sides. The discovery call is where you assess whether we are the right fit, and we are direct about whether the engagement makes sense before anything is signed.

What happens if the scope changes during the engagement?

Scope changes happen in real projects. Our contract defines a clear change request process: any addition to scope is documented in writing, priced, and approved before work begins. We never do additional work and bill for it later. You will never be surprised by an invoice that does not match the scope you agreed to.

How We Work

Who actually does the work?

The people you meet in discovery are the people who build your solution. We do not use subcontractors for client work and we do not hand engagements to junior staff after the sale. If you are talking to a senior consultant in the scoping conversation, that consultant is on your engagement.

How much time will this require from our team?

It depends on the engagement type. For a targeted automation project, you might spend two to four hours total in calls and reviews over a four-week build. For an ERP implementation, we need consistent access to the people who own your business processes throughout the engagement. We tell you upfront what we need from your team and build it into the project timeline.

What do you need from us to get started?

Access to the systems we are connecting to, one or two subject matter experts who can answer questions about your data and processes, and a stakeholder who can make decisions when we surface options or tradeoffs. The more available these three things are, the faster the engagement moves.

What happens when the engagement ends?

Everything we build is documented and yours. We do not design solutions that require us to maintain them indefinitely - though many clients choose to keep us on retainer because the data needs keep evolving. At the end of every project, you receive full documentation, source code ownership, and a handover session with your team.

Confidentiality

Is our data kept confidential?

Yes. Every engagement is covered by a mutual NDA signed at the start of the initial engagement. We do not share client data, name clients in our marketing, or discuss engagement details with anyone outside the project team. The case studies on this site reflect real outcomes with all identifying information removed, and only with client acknowledgment.

Who has access to our systems during the engagement?

Only the team members directly working on your engagement. We request the minimum access needed to do the work - read-only where possible, scoped credentials rather than admin access. We document every access request and remove credentials at project close.
